WATCH: Tony Jones Wasn’t A Huge Fan Of The Cure’s Splendour Setlist

Among the big indie rock acts and churning dance choons at Splendour In The Grass, the festival has for the past few years offered something far, far wilder: a live version of Q&A, where the panel discusses the issues of the day in front of a packed tent of certifiably loose kents.

The punters normally love it, and 2016 was no diff. Hosted by Tony Jones as per usual, the panel featured Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young, Labor MP Terri Butler, LNP senator Andrew Laming, journalist Peter Greste and US drone whistleblower Cian Westmoreland.
We caught up with Jones after the session, and he chatted with us about what makes a good Q&A host, the most dramatic moments from the show’s history, and his opinion on The Cure‘s set from last night.
His take? It wasn’t good.

We went LIVE with Q&A’s Tony Jones, aka King of Moderators and SITG punter, to chat democracy and… The Cure.

Straight from the horse’s mouth:

If I’m to be brutally honest about it, I don’t think they played the audience well. I think they had a huge, young crowd with an open mind […] I think unfortunately the young audience knew maybe a dozen, maybe fifteen of their songs and probably wanted to hear them early on to get into it. I don’t think they really understood that.

There ya have it, folks. Tony Jones: seasoned setlist critic.
