Rap crew Blackalicious has been making its way back onto television in a big way lately. First, Daniel Radcliffe said how much he loved them on primetime and rapped their hit ‘Alphabet Aerobics’, but now an NBC 9 News reporter Kim Powell has totally one-upped him.
Those among us who have studied broadcast journalism will know any reporter needs to loosen up their mouth and tongue muscles before going on air with an important story. Typical exercises include tongue-twisters and other devilish phrases like ‘red leather yellow leather’ (try saying that a bunch of times.) But Powell warms up by rapping Blackalicious, because whiteness is nothing but a state of mind, people.
