Sarah Silverman gets us right in the heartstrings in the following extremely logical and eloquent video about the gender wage gap.
Silverman starts off by telling us about a particular unfair situation she faced once, after finishing a back-to-back timeslot with one of her male peers. After the set, the male comedian was paid six times the amount as Sarah (who immediately went back into the venue and questioned the dude that booked them about it, because she’s a total badass bitch.)
“I’m all for women having to work harder to prove themselves at this juncture, if that’s how it is in the world,” she says, “But if you work a job, and a man is working that same job, you should be getting paid the same.”
She also talks the hazards of tweeting about anything that has to do with women’s rights, or gender equality: “It’s [women’s rights topics], that gets the most violent hate-tweets back… [It’s] so odd. [It’s] just bizarre. It creates such a rage in certain people, and of course that comes from fear.”
Just FYI, Australia’s current gender wage gap is a very upsetting 20-year high of 18.6%, and don’t get us started again on the stats of the different pay gaps for homosexual men and women.
Silverman is a wonderful goddess, and explains so many big issues in the most articulate and understandable way. This ain’t a comedy video, people: it’s real life.

p.s. There’s also a puppy at about the three and a half minute mark.
