WATCH: Racist Idiot Abuses And Threatens Passengers On A Melbourne Tram

Experiencing and enduring the drunken, shitful behaviour of others is such an intrinsic feature of using Melbourne‘s public transport network that it ought to be written into Myki‘s T&Cs.

In fact, save for trains skipping East Richmond station, it’s just about the most reliable feature of the whole system. But every so often an incident occurs that shocks even the most seasoned of travellers.
Footage captured by a 3AW employee shows a confronting recent incident involving an apparently intoxicated man as he unloads a torrent of abuse on his fellow passengers, which reportedly escalated to involve racial and physical abuse, and even threatening people with a syringe.
Sports reporter Alexandra Factor captured the footage, which shows the man screaming in the ear of a passenger who was attempting valiantly to ignore the abuse. When the passenger finally decides to move away, the drunk man follows him, continuing to scream at him, before ultimately kicking him and turning to move back down the carriage.

Factor stated that after she stopped filming the incident, the man began using some “racially charged” language, and began threatening people with a syringe that he was carrying.
The man apparently got off the tram at the next stop, walked down the street, threw bottles and hurled abuse at pedestrians, and then returned to the tram stop and boarded another tram.
Police confirmed that four people were allegedly assaulted by the 35-year-old, and that was subsequently arrested and charged with affray, assault, theft, and being drunk in a public place.
He’ll face court to have the charges heard today.
