WATCH: Police Release Underwater Footage Of Sunken Costa Concordia

Nearly two and a half years after the Costa Concordia sank off the Tuscan coast, authorities are getting ready to raise the cruise liner on July 14. They’ve also released this eerie but fascinating video of Italian police divers swimming through the sunken ship.

The eight minute video shows the divers making their way through the cabins and common areas of the formerly luxurious liner; in many, sofas, tables and even computers remain in place and intact. Skip to the four-minute mark to see a perfectly preserved reception area with even the the vase of flowers on the counter remaining in place.
Costa Concordia sank in January 2012 after capsizing at Isola del Giglio, Italy, killing 32 people. The salvage of the 114,000-tonne ship, which was carrying over 2,300 tonnes of fuel when it sank, has turned out to be the most expensive ever, with a calculated total cost of nearly $800 million.
Later this month it’ll be raised before being floated into deeper water, raised further and towed off.
