WATCH: Melbourne Commuters Escape Train After Roof Erupts In Hail Of Sparks

Melbourne commuters were forced to rush out of a train carriage this morning, after its roof erupted in a hail of sparks just outside Flinders Street Station.

Passengers on the outbound Sandringham service evacuated the train after an apparent fault between the train and overhead powerlines.

Despite the outburst and smoke emanating from the carriage, it’s not believed anybody was injured.

The Metropolitan Fire Brigade reports there was no fire during the incident, only electrical arcing.

The incident has caused a suspension of services along the line. Commuters have been advised to check up with Metro Trains for further updates.
