WATCH: Mark Zuckerberg’s House Is Controlled By An AI Morgan Freeman

Because Facebook founder and ‘The Social Network‘ supervillain Mark Zuckerberg has not given us, the nerds, enough of his life, he has today unveiled his side-project since January: a Morgan Freeman-voiced home AI system named “Jarvis”.

Before we get to the nitty-gritty, can we please just break those basics down a little, and how perfectly they interact with fandom?
First of all, Zuckerberg is basically our generation’s Thomas Edison: sure he’s apparently screwed over a few Nicola Teslas in his time, but we still owe a lot of our cool shit to the guy. Nerds both love and hate him, and we will eat up whatever nonsense tech he throws our way.
Secondly, everybody loves Morgan Freeman’s voice. Morgan Freeman loves joking about Morgan Freeman’s voice, and he’s gotta be as close to being sick of it as anyone.
Finally, the AI’s name is fucking Jarvis. Anyone who has seen any of the ‘Iron Man’ or ‘Avengers’ films can tell you how that is designed to appeal to nerds.
Anyway, the real-life Jarvis looks pretty cool, even if the vid below is basically a big tongue-in-cheek glance of the AI’s abilities, which include turning on lights, facial recognition, and making toast.
It’s also a chance to squeeze in three more nerdy references: an Arnold Schwarzenegger cameo and a ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ gag that doubles as a kick to that eternal dead horse, Nickleback.

While the video’s offers a pretty light summary of the technology itself, Zuckerberg has published an accompanying explanation of the system
The post also covers what he’d like to do next with the tech, including the possibility of sharing Jarvis with customers and, presumably, power-mad alien consciousnesses born from magic rocks and voiced by James Spader.
Finally, Zuckerberg also shared another video focusing on his wife Priscilla Chan, which includes a pretty great Schwarzenegger gag the actor reportedly suggested himself.
Give the second video a squiz below.
