WATCH: Lin-Manuel Miranda Goes Full-Sorkin, Drops A ‘West Wing’ Rap Homage

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Harry Connick Jr of rap, is on a helluva roll nowadays. The man who brought the world ‘Hamilton‘ has finished gathering in all the Tonys for said play and is now spending his days not having that outrageous ponytail/writing songs for Disney, etc. More or less the dream, basically.

But since he’s not running a Broadway-level production schedule anymore, old mate suddenly keeps finding himself with a bunch of this pesky “spare time” that people can’t seem to stop yammering on about.
Rather than, y’know, maybe put the feet up, take a nap, go drink a fancy cocktail in the sun or finally do that play-through of Mario 64 you’ve been putting off, Miranda instead fills the gaps by doing the kind of wholly neat little things you can just do when you’re a confirmed genius in the eyes of the MacArthur Foundation.
Like, for example, lay down a blistering lyrical burst inspired entirely by the insanely good but wildly complex political drama ‘The West Wing.’ Again, things a guy like him can just do.
Popular podcast The West Wing Weekly had Miranda on to put his unique spin on the Aaron Sorkin classic, and if you’re a fan of either Miranda, the show, or fun things in general, then this is gonna be right up your alley.

Now all we need is for Miranda to drop a scorching diss track on Governor Robert Ritchie and we’d really be in business.
