WATCH: Jack Sock Serves Aussie Realness, Shows Hewitt True Sportsmanship

Hooly dooly, after the past twelve months Australian tennis has had, the sport was definitely in for a break of good luck. Far removed from smack-talk about banging opponent’s girlfriends, chucking a strop at the ump or being struck down from their high school hall of fame (lel), last night’s Hopman Cup match-up between stalwart Aussie Lleyton Hewitt and American Jack Sock was the scene of some top-shelf sportsmanship.

ICYMI: Hewitt serves, but the ump calls it out. Our newfound Seppo mate has the wherewithal to tell Hewitt that the ball was actually totes in, and if he were to challenge the call, he’d win the sweet, sweet point. Cue befuddlement on behalf of literally every other human there.

Lleyton, the cap-wearing competitor that he is, took the opportunity and ran with it. Bolstered by some primal crowd chants of “IN, IN, IN,” the review comes back, and our boy’s in the good.

We hope it’s not too early to say this is the dawning of a new era of cross-cultural alliances, but this is definitely the dawning of a new era of cross cultural alliances. Hewitt ended the night on top, taking Sock 7-5, 6-4. But we’re all winners after witnessing this, right?
