When nothing about the state of Australian politics seems to make sense (always?), take comfort in this – a perfect insertion of every politician, from new PM Malcolm Turnbull and his ousted former colleagues Julia Gillard, Tony Abbott and Kevin Rudd to old mate Clive Palmer, into the American Horror Story theme.
We never anticipated this cut would be *more* bone-chilling than the show itself, but consider the following:
- After the #libspill earlier in the week, the clueless, onion-munching Abbott has been replaced with a more assertive, charismatic dude who will (probably) do nothing much differently, apart from eat less raw vegetables in public. We hope.
- There’s human beings with emotions and feelings having their human rights violated in our Nauru and Manus Island detention centres.
- Indigenous communities are being threatened all across the country.
- The rates of domestic violence are higher than ever, and 62 women have been murdered this year.
- Enforced lockout laws are affecting metropolitan areas to the point that they’re being economically strangled.
- There’s racist slurs being yelled around Parliament like it ain’t no thang.
Why rely on fiction to scare us half to death when the IRL Australian Horror Story is so bloody terrifying?
