WATCH: Actual Madman Completes Canyon Rocket Jump À La Evel Knievel

Some things are just primally bad-arse, and launching yourself over a canyon in a home-made rocket 100% qualifies as never-not-cool.

American stuntman Eddie Braun is apparently well aware of this fact, ’cause he just shot over Idaho’s Snake River Canyon in a steam-powered missile named Evel Spirit – after Evel Knievel himself, who failed the same jump back in 1974 and walked away with minor injuries.
If that last paragraph hasn’t reduced you to a pile of goo due to the sheer bombastic awesomeness of Braun’s achievement, perhaps video footage might help:

It’s estimated the rocket reached up to 600km/h at its peak, easily powering it over the 427m expanse. Bloody. Amazing.
Crafting that mad, mad vehicle was somewhat of a family effort, too: it was built by the son of the man who created Knievel’s rocket. Braun himself said this wasn’t an exercise in doin’ something Knievel couldn’t; rather, it was just his way of “simply finishing out [Knievel’s] dream.

How many people get to finish the dream of their hero?”

Your move, ‘Ye.
