WATCH: Abbott Says He’s Received ‘Thousands’ Of Letters Begging His Return

Tony Abbott promised after Malcolm Turnbull deposed him in September that he would dutifully serve as backbencher and would not engage in any sniping, undermining or wrecking. Whether he’s stuck to his guns on that is up to you, but he certainly spends a lot of time on talk shows and in the pages of magazines and newspapers arguing that he should never have been kicked to the kerb.

He popped up on Andrew Bolt‘s new show on Sky News last night fresh with a whole bunch of wonderful new underhanded defences of his time in office – to which Bolt was extremely receptive, given that he absolutely loathes Turnbull. Spend two minutes on Bolt’s blog and you will become aware of the sheer contempt he holds for the TRAITOR.
Tony said he won’t be PM again, but lots of people want him to! Wink wink, nudge nudge:

Four thousand letters begging for his return. But that’s not sniping or undermining. This is just a bloke talking about all the letters he gets. Y’know.
He did say that he doesn’t imagine himself in the top job – but seemingly makes it pretty clear that’s because he can’t see the Liberal Party having him back at the top again.
He also, quite bafflingly, entertained Bolt’s question about whether he’d prefer to fight the Chinese with the Japanese or the French as allies. Abbott said that the French owe us a ‘blood debt’ for World War II, which is an extraordinarily heavy thing to say on national television or indeed at all.

Tony is always gonna have a receptive ear on Bolt’s show. Look forward to a lot more casual sniping in future.
