Watch A Timelapse Of The White House Lighting Up In Rainbow Colours

Yesterday, we awoke to the news that the United States Supreme Court had declared bans on same-sex marriage unconstitutional, effectively making marriage equality a reality across the country.
President Barack Obama spoke eloquently on the ruling, saying:

“Our nation was founded on a bedrock principal that we are all created equal. The project of each generation is to bridge the meaning of those founding words with the realities of changing times.  Progress on that journey often comes in small increments … And then sometimes there are days like this, when that slow steady effort is rewarded with justice that arrives like a thunderbolt.”

 
Following the court’s decision, the White House lit up in rainbow colours, as crowds of supporters cheered outside. Below is a timelapse video of the historic building on the day when marriage became equal in America:
