There’s always going to be room on the content front for footage of kids being absolutely owned, as long as its all in good fun as long as nobody gets hurt.
That being said, they should probably shut this slide down:
The video was taken at the Emerald Plunge slide at The Wave water park in Dublin, California, which had been open for literally 90 minutes before a 10-year-old kid ate concrete. Not the best maiden voyage for your cool water slide.
According to reports from local paper The East Bay Times, the kid was shaken up but basically fine, apart from some scratches on his shoulder.
The description of the slide on the website says that it “a severe drop induces thrills in this open air ride”. ‘Severe’ is a good descriptor for a ride children are going on.
Park spokesperson Shari Jackman said they are “re-evaluating that slide,” which might be a good idea given that it just absolutely wrecked a kid less than two hours after it opened. There’s a lesson here: test your slides.
