‘The Walking Dead’ Actor Scott Wilson Dies At Age 76

Scott Wilson, the actor known for his roles in The Walking Dead series and In Cold Blood, has died at the age of 76.

Wilson also played Abel Johnson in the Netflix series The OA. 

The news was announced on The Walking Dead‘s Twitter account.

“We are deeply saddened to report that Scott Wilson, the incredible actor who played Hershel on #TheWalkingDead, has passed away at the age of 76. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in paradise, Scott. We love you!”

In the series, Wilson played fan favourite veterinarian Hershel Greene from 2011 to 2014.

The announcement was made a little over an hour after the series’ television channel, AMC, shared that the actor’s character would appear in the ninth season of the show. The news was announced at The Walking Dead panel at this weekend’s New York Comic Con. 

In a statement to The Hollywood ReporterAMC said:

“Scott will always be remembered as a great actor and we all feel fortunate to have known him as an even better person.

“The character he embodied on The Walking Dead, Hershel, lived at the emotional core of the show. Like Scott in our lives, Hershel was a character whose actions continue to inform our character’s choices to this day. Our hearts go out to his wife, his family, friends and to the millions of fans who loved him. Scott will be missed.”

On Twitter, Wilson was remembered warmly by his colleagues.
