WA Dad Tells Cops He Ran Red Light Bc He Was In A Hurry To Get To Nando’s

Look, here’s the thing about running red lights: don’t do it. You might feel like you are a really good driver (news flash: pretty much everyone believes they are a really good driver) and you might be confident you know what you’re doing, but other people don’t know what you’re doing and thus don’t expect you to wrongfully appear in an intersection in your Barina.
Furthermore, really, really definitely don’t run a red light because you are in a hurry to get to Nando’s. Yes, I will admit, Nando’s is delicious – I too have felt the siren song of that magical Portuguese chicken tug at my heart strings – unfortunately, “I really needed to get some exotic BBQ chook” doesn’t truck as a valid excuse with the police, however.
Case in point, this bloke who got a $300 fine and lost six demerit points for hurtling through a red light because he was in a “rush to get the kids Nando’s“.
WA Police pulled the gentleman up in Wanneroo in Western Australia yesterday and decided to shame him on social media:
As they emphatically said on the Twitter account for WA Police Traffic (with three exclamation points, no less), it’s not good enough:
“Nandos Chicken is good but lives are put at risk every time you drive through a RED TCL, there simply is no excuse!!!”
Fair and reasonable.
