Huge Bloody Winds Are Set To Tear Through Victoria Tonight & Saturday

In absolutely fantastic news – more shit weather’s on the way for Victoria. Yay. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds over Victoria, tonight and early Saturday.

If you live in Victoria, this may not be too much of a surprise following the wild winds that tore through the state overnight.

My neighbour’s olive tree actually uprooted.

According to BoM:

A strong cold front approaching from the Southern Ocean will sweep across Victoria overnight Friday and early Saturday. The front will produce a cold, vigorous and unstable southwesterly airstream on Saturday.

To go with the delightful winds, there’ll also be a chance of a thunderstorm, showers, and hail on Saturday.

Damaging winds will average at 60 to 70km/h with peak gusts of 100km/h to develop on Friday night.

Coastal and elevated areas will be the most at risk of DAMAGING winds.

Locations which may be affected include Warrnambool, Seymour, Maryborough, Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne, Morwell, Traralgon, Sale, Moe, Bairnsdale, Orbost and all Alpine Resorts.

The State Emergency Service has advised people to move their cars under cover and away from any trees, to secure or put away loose items around the house, and to keep clear of fallen power lines.

BoM tweeted the weather warning earlier today writing “Damaging winds as high as 100 km/hr are likely in the Southwest tonight and remaining areas in the warning zone during Saturday.”

These conditions are expected to calm by late Saturday afternoon.

According to BoM, Melbourne will reach a peachy maximum of 13C on Saturday, with a minimum of 8C, and an 80 per cent chance of rain.

In conclusion – tonight, windy – very windy.

Look after yourselves.

BoM will issue another weather warning tonight at 11pm.
