Some knuckle-headed system error over at Victoria University was responsible for accidentally congratulating up to 14,500 applicants on their acceptance to study, when in fact no such thing had occurred.
“Victoria University would like to recall an email sent to you on December 24 2015 inviting you to enrol for Semester 1 2016. We regret to advise that this email was sent as a result of a system error.”
This, essentially, means that thousands of mates who just spent the Christmas period telling their fam “YES, I do have plans next year, actually, I’m studying X at Vic Uni” now have to either explain to them WTF happened, or spend the next 70 years avoiding them. Six of one, tbh.
“As someone who was a recipient of one of those emails, I am bitterly disappointed. It’s a cruel joke to play on someone,” wrote FB user Lola Lopez.
“Poor form Vic Uni, poor form,” wrote another FB user Heidi Jackson, who we assume (??) was either one of the 14,500, or knows one. “So how many desperate and driven students received email offers in error? Shame on you…”

The uni’s stock-standard response appears to be, “We apologise for the system error in this instance that may have caused confusion” along with an offer to discuss pathway options, which is very in-keeping with the #sorrynotsorry trend that’s currently all the rage across Australia.
YEAH SICK ONE KENTS.
