VIC Police Reveal Photo Of Man Wanted Over Alleged Tram Sexual Assaults

Victoria Police have released the image of a man they’re keen to speak to in relation to a spate of sexual assaults on some of Melbourne’s busiest tram routes.

Police currently believe the same man may have inappropriately touched passengers on the Route 109 tram on Collins Street around 5:30pm on 16 April 2016; on the Route 96 tram on Bourke Street around 1:35pm on 16 August 2016; on the Route 1 tram on Swanston Street around 8:50pm on 16 March this year; and again on the Route 96 tram at 5:45pm on 26 April this year.

The man they’re eager to speak to has been described as around 180cm tall, Caucasian in appearance, of an average build, and with curly grey hair. The photo provided shows the man with distinctive round glasses.

Anyone with information on the man’s identity has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The appeal for information comes after another sickening incident in March, where a 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man who followed her off a Melbourne tram. Police believe the woman felt threatened and asked for help from other passengers while on the tram, but those appeals were either misunderstood or ignored.

There is no suggestion the man pictured in the image Victoria Police released today is connected to that incident.

Stay safe out there, friends.
