Carlton & United Breweries quite stupidly lowered the alcohol content in its rust flavoured iconic beer, Victoria Bitter, from 4.9 per cent to 4.6 per cent in order to save millions in a higher excise tax.
All VB drinkers aren’t idiots though, and after 19 years as Australia’s highest selling beer, VB was overtaken by the equally piss-like iconic Queensland brew XXXX, with seasoned VB connoisseurs claiming the taste had changed.
