Today there are two politics-related sound bytes making headlines. One is of US President Barack Obama singing a lick of Al Green’s soul classic “Let’s Stay Together” at a fundraising event in New York’s Apollo Theatre in homage to Reverend Al who was in the audience.
Meanwhile in Australia, Opposition Leader Tony Abbott is making news with an off-colour comment he made during an on-air radio interview in which he joked about the Costa Concordia cruise ship tragedy which has claimed 11 lives. A Triple M Adelaide interviewer asked: “This is just a bit from left field, the captain from the Costa Concordia wants to know if you need any help with your boat policy?” to which Tony joked: “Well that was one boat that did get stopped, wasn’t it.”
