US Man Allegedly Shoots At His Family ‘Cos Someone Bit His Grilled Cheese

In news that includes both domestic abuse and gun violence, yet reads as completely ridiculous, a US man has fired shots at his wife and daughter after one of them allegedly bit into his grilled cheese sandwich.

After being called to the scene for a domestic dispute around 5pm EST yesterday, Baltimore County police surrounded the house and barricaded neighbouring streets. 

From there, they negotiated for over three hours with the armed Dundalk man, who told them that he was upset over the sandwich before turning himself over peacefully.

It needs to be stressed that there is nothing in the slightest bit funny about domestic violence, period. 
Earlier today, a Cairns woman became the second person to be murdered by their male partner in 2017, allegedly because she laughed at his accusation she was having an affair. 
The fact that minor, non-slights contributed to both of today’s cases of abuse undoubtedly speaks to our broader, fucked-up sense of fragile and entitled masculinity. 
But considering no one was hurt in the US incident, the man surrendered peacefully, and it was all sparked by something genuinely, truly ridiculous, people are still letting him have it on Twitter.

Still, it’s never really about the sandwich. And men: it’s our problem to fix.
