Molly the Beagle recently lost her litter of puppies at birth, and the possum, lovingly nicknamed Poss, is an orphaned baby who somehow found its way to Molly’s farm home in Victoria‘s south-west.
It’s like they were meant for each other in their respective times of need, and no I am not dealing with this well, thank you very much.
Poss and Molly get around the cattle farm near Hamilton with Poss riding Molly’s back like it would with a mama possum, and Molly just trotting along like there’s not some other mammal baby clinging onto her fur for dear life. It’s so CUTE I can’t bear it.

Look at them! They’re both just there like “wow I don’t know what you’re freaking out about, it’s like you’ve never seen a tiny baby possum riding on the back of a fully-grown dog before?”
Molly’s humans have said that they’re not sure how long little Poss will hang around for, but the pair have clearly been a mood-booster for each other, as they trapse around the cattle farm, with Poss bobbing along on Molly’s back.
It’s like the Aussie version of one of the all-time greatest internet videos, Baby Monkey (Going Backwards On A Pig), which is probably my favourite animal-centric video online and I get the damn song stuck in my head at least once a month.
