Purveyors of perverse pleasure, Adult Swim has been chancing their arm on a bit of different stuff that, even for them, still rates about a 9.0 on the Weird Shit-O-Meter.
About a month ago you might recall Too Many Cooks, a short film that starts out as a loving pisstake of 80s sitcom opening title sequences and spirals quickly out of control into one of the most flat-out fucked up ten minutes of footage you’re ever likely to see. And if you haven’t yet managed to see, holy god DROP EVERYTHING YOU ARE DOING and go watch it immediately. Not only is a supremely original and ballsy bit of film, but it’s stunningly funny in a profoundly macabre kind of way. Go, go! For the good of the city!
Taking that ball and running way the hell into deeply disturbing territory comes this new effort, Unedited Footage Of A Bear.
The title’s a bit misleading at best, and the bear footage only takes up a small portion of the beginning; what appears to be a commercial for allergy medication takes over, and then the whole thing spirals wildly out of control into a truly bizarre and fairly intense horror movie-like scenario.
It’s not for the un-brave, but it’s a damned good watch.
I’m still not entirely sure what it is I just watched, but if this is the path that Adult Swim is charging down, then I for one am well on board.
