Fun, Exciting UFO Seen Off Irish Coast Probably Just Dumb, Boring Meteorite

UFO Ireland

Not all UFOs are going to be aliens. I know that. I fully understand that the majority of unidentified flying objects will eventually be identified as something completely mundane. I have resigned myself to this. All I ask is that the time between the UFO being spotted and the UFO being identified is long enough for me to enjoy the titillating mystery. I would hope that the handful UFOs spotted over the coast of Kerry on November 9 would retain their mystery for at least a month but, alas, “scientists” and “experts” have weighed in to ruin the fun.

According to the Guardian, three different pilots reported seeing one or more objects they could not identify, with air traffic control unable to locate anything on radar. The pilot of a British Airways flight from Montreal said it was very bright and quite zippy: “It was moving so fast. It came up on our left-hand side and then rapidly veered to the north. It was a very bright light that disappeared at very high speed.

A Virgin Airlines pilot flying from Orlando to Manchester described seeing “a meteor or another object making some kind of re-entry“, further describing multiple very bright objects following a similar trajectory.

While the Aviation Authority of Ireland has dutifully launched an investigation into the reports, it might be a very quick one. Head of Astronomy Ireland David Moore told The Times that he was “1000 percent sure” that the UFO was just a fireball, a flaming meteorite moving through the atmosphere.

Aviation journalist Gerry Byrne tendered the same explanation when speaking to The Irish Examiner: “In all probability they were meteorites and it’s not uncommon for meteorites to come in at a low angle, a low trajectory into the Earth’s atmosphere.
