Two Teens Hospitalised On NSW’s Central Coast After “Erratic” Rideshare Driver Runs Them Over

teens hospitalised rideshare driver

Two Central Coast, NSW teenagers are in hospital after a rideshare driver allegedly ran them over with his van after they got out of the vehicle.

A group of teens in Noraville on the NSW Central Coast got into the van of an unofficial local rideshare driver at about 3am this morning. According to reports, during the trip the driver was allegedly “driving erratically”, with police telling the media:

Once inside the rideshare van, the driver – who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol – began driving erratically, causing the passengers to be thrown around.

He then dropped the group off, but allegedly immediately pulled a U-ey and drove directly at the teenagers, hitting two of them, a boy and a girl.

While I am not condoning violence, I do love the next bit of the story, which suggests that the uninjured teenagers then pulled the driver out of his van and beat him up. (Swift and merciless retribution: extremely teen areas.)

The two teens who were hit by the van suffered serious injuries. The 15-year-old boy who was hit by the vehicle was taken to John Hunter Hospital with injuries to his pelvis, leg and back; he’s reported to be in a serious but stable condition.

The 16-year-old girl, however, suffered significant head injuries, and remains in a serious condition. She has now been transferred to the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney.

The driver, who is only 18, was taken to Wyong Hospital with minor head injuries from the fight, and underwent blood and urine testing under police guard. Local cops say that it’s likely they’ll lay charges once he’s out of hospital.
