So here we are, in the middle of the fucking stupid garbage postal vote on marriage equality in Australia, and someone has taken the “respectful debate” to the skies.
TO THE SKIES.
Yep, in case you missed it, some fucken drongo hired a skywriter to scrawl “VOTE NO” in the clear blue over Sydney this morning.

Aside from ruining everyone’s brunches with a gigantic message of open intolerance, this was a really stupid move – mainly because it’s windy as hell in Sydney at the moment, and the message only lasted about ten minutes before having its particles blown away into the ether.

The reaction on social media has been swift and hilarious, because there ain’t nothing like a bit of blind hatred to get the A-material flowing.
I hope whoever hired that sky writer used the same pilot they used when when he proposed to his girlfriend and got rejected. pic.twitter.com/ojBME9enWL

“Vote no” skywriting that lasted about ten minutes before being blown away, which I hope is a perfect metaphor #marriagequality pic.twitter.com/uBiG1as1zQ

The wind is annoying, but it made short work of this “Vote No” skywriting. Love the juxtaposition of the flags. #biblebelt pic.twitter.com/RDdhkxnR6i

(ahh, much better)
It’s a desperate bit of bullshit from a campaign that truly doesn’t have a leg to stand on. Matt Canavan, the guy who tried to blame his citizenship bungle on his poor ma, told 1500 people at the launch of the ‘No’ campaign:
The ‘yes’ side want to make it illegal to just express a different view about marriage, that is their agenda.
This is just… clearly not true, and not what this is about, and if you’re so freaked out about losing to common sense and decency that you hire a fucking skywriter, maybe you should reassess your life choices.
And besides, the NT News has already had the last word on this one.
Can’t top that.
