Yesterday, we let you guys know about the absolutely horrendous, terrifying racial abuse that’s been directed towards SNL and ‘Ghostbusters’ star Leslie Jones

Since the release of the film, the comedian had been receiving more and more racist tweets – often including pictures and video – calling her an ape.

The star was vocal about how the abuse made her feel and went as far to expose as many accounts as possible, in order to show that anyone who says we live in a post-racial world is straight up kidding themselves; violent racism is alive and well in 2016.

After a few days, her account was hacked and tweeted to Milo Yiannopoulos – which in turn fired up him army of right-wing followers who screech the to high heavens 24/7 about their one true love, their right to freedom of speech – and the abuse grew worse.

Jones finally had enough, and wrote two heartbreaking goodbye tweets:

Twitter has now responded to Leslie Jones calls for help, and to the public backlash towards the racist abuse that made her leave. The social media site issued a statement to Zap2It:

“This type of abusive behaviour is not permitted on Twitter, and we’ve taken action on many of the accounts reported to us by both Leslie and others.

We rely on people to report this type of behaviour to us but we are continuing to invest heavily in improving our tools and enforcement systems to prevent this kind of abuse.

We realise we still have a lot of work in front of us before Twitter is where it should be on how we handle these issues.”

So, once again, no constructive answer regarding what they are doing to fix the issue. But at least they’re acknowledging how fucked up it is.

Jones said in one of her tweets, “You have to hate yourself to putout that type of hate. I mean on my worst day I can’t think of this type of hate to put out,” – and that’s beyond true.

Ignore the trolls no longer works – we gotta shut this shit down. Because no matter how many times you scream ‘BLEEDING HEART LEFTY FUCKS TRYING TO TAKE AWAY MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH, POLITICAL CORRECTNESS WINS AGAIN’ in a badly misspelled Facebook comment, we’re happy to inform you that hate speech has never fallen under the umbrella of ‘freedom of speech’, on a UN level or a federal level (the latter of which, Australia doesn’t even have).

Complain about “cultural Marxism” all you want, but if your ‘culture’ includes violently abusing people of different races for fun, you need to get a better culture.
