Trump’s Newest Inexplicable Internet Beef Is With The Guy That Shot Bin Laden

Given that he is one of the most powerful people in the world and happens to have a bowl of room-temperature spaghetti for a brain, it is not surprising that Trump does something unbelievably ridiculous every day. It was newsworthy for a while at the start, but he hasn’t let up ever since he got into the office. His daily gaffes, goofs, and dumbass-isms have become something of a white noise, one that would surely exhaust you if you tried to pay attention to all of it.

Every now and then, though, you’ll snap out of the stupor it has left you in and catch a glimpse of what he’s up to now. For instance: Donald J Trump, president of the United States, is currently in a feud with the guy that shot Osama bin Laden. I’ll give you a second with that one.

Rober J O’Neill, the former US Navy SEAL that shot bin Laden during the 2011 raid on bin Laden’s Abbottabad compound, took shots at Trump to defend William McRaven, former commander of Joint Special Operations Command.

In a bizarre Fox News interview, Trump dismissed criticism from McRaven by calling him a “Hillary Clinton backer and an Obama backer“. He also intimated that the takedown of bin Laden didn’t happen soon enough and, maybe weirdest of all, that bin Laden’s compound wasn’t shit-hot:

Would it have been nicer if we got Osama Bin Laden a lot sooner than that, wouldn’t it have been nice? Living — think of this, living in Pakistan, beautifully in Pakistan and what I guess in what they considered a nice mansion, I don’t know, I’ve seen nicer.

O’Neill took to Twitter to say that political parties did not have an impact on the raid:

The mission to get bin Laden was bipartisan. We all wanted to get him as soon as we could. ADM McRaven was born to lead this mission. I’ll follow him anywhere. If only people heard the real speech he gave the Team.

What a strange, strange time to be alive.
