Trump Campaign Issues Weak AF Statement On Melania’s Plagiarised Speech

The Republican National Convention is a complete shitshow and you are insane if you choose to watch it of your own volition. However, it’s not entirely without its highlights.
Like, say, Stephen Colbert crashing the stage dressed as Caesar Flickerman from The Hunger Games, one of the bearded weirdos from Duck Dynasty giving a speech and, most importantly, Trump‘s wife, Melania, delivering a speech with huge chunks lifted from a speech delivered by First Lady Michelle Obama at a 2008 Democratic National Convention.
Sure, a lot of political speeches sound the same, but it goes way further than just repeating “working families” over and over again. Check out the similarities:

Obviously it’s already bloody hilarious that something so highly scrutinised would be such a blatant rip-off, but of all the bloody people to steal it from, I am S-ing my damn H.
Being the savvy, responsive and probably ludicrously well-paid team that they are, Trump’s campaign people issued an extremely brief statement, on account of the fact that they were being hammered by owns:
“In writing her beautiful speech, Melania’s team of writers took notes on her life’s inspirations, and in some instances included fragments that reflected her own thinking. Melania’s immigrant experience and love for America shone through in her speech, which made it such a success.”

“Included fragments” my ass, you can’t just rip whole paragraphs of text from someone whose politics are supposedly diametrically opposed to your own and pretend this was just taking inspiration from a like-minded person.

Also, “success” my ass.
As has also been pointed out, this may not even be the worst thing hidden inside that speech:

What a genuinely fucking insane time to be alive.
