Trailblazers International Art Show — Art Stars still got it

Madeleine Boyd (StupidKrap) and Alana Armstrong (Juxtapoz and co-curator of the show) take Pedestrian through the impressive group of artists making up the Trailblazers International Art Show and let us know what they’ve been up to in the last couple of months…

The Trailblazers art exhibition this Wednesday, November 19 brings together a collection of art talent so awesome, they’ve already crossed world domination off their list. Our apologies to Ghengis Khan, Jesus and The Brain. The problem was, some of them have never before seen this side of the equator. But, pair up StupidKrap with one of Sydney’s most progressive-minded galleries, Boutwell Draper, add some rockin’ DJs and the sweet ambrosias of Grolsch and Strait Vodka and you have an event worthy to hail the new lords of the art world. Here’s a teaser of what’s happening in the art star world, to get the juices flowing for the main event this Wednesday.

ANTHONY LISTER is spinning heads with a residency in the FAILE studio NYC. He’s preparing for Miami Basel the biennial art fair where the likes of Ron English and Shepard Fairey strut their stuff. Check out the Lister forum for updates.

DMOTE: After a recent graff tour of Puerto Rico DMOTE is back to his busy schedule of painting, blogging and artistically directing for kingpins of the art and apparel scene, RVCA. He took some time out to paint new works for the Trailblazers show. Here’s a sneak peak of these graphic paintings with phenomenal detail. There’s more on his blog.

HUSH and Copyright: English bad-boy HUSH has been running amok with the likes of The London Police in Amsterdam this month. He and his pal Copyright are likely suspects at the urban art hive Cargo bar, home of Black Rat Press, in Shoreditch, London where the walls are encrusted with the beauty of greats, including vintage Banksy and some fresh Shepard Fairey.

Ben Frost / Numskull / Roach / Kid Zoom / HaHa Colossal Co-lab
Right now at Worlds End Studio headquarters the smoking guns of Surry Hills have got their spray on, creating a monumental 5m x 4m graff-style painting for Trailblazers. Here’s a sneak peak of a work under construction. Get to the gallery on Wednesday to witness the magnum opus from five brilliant minds.

Andy Uprock will be complimenting the install with a massive solo piece based on a security fence installed within the gallery space…another world first.

Hot on the heels of his incredible UK tour and painting the †MTV Loo-vre’ Ben Frost is now in-progress, painting a cover for the next release by David Bowie’s favorite (and world’s youngest) rock outfit, Tiny Masters of Today.

Kill Pixie now based in LA is currently tearing it up in Berlin, where his next show opens November 22 at the Merry Karnowsky gallery. He sent back a couple of awesome pieces for Trailblazers, created in the USofA over many hours of detailed pen and vibrant ink work in classic Kill Pixie style.

Trailblazers soundtrack shall be provided by ‘Doctor Cock vs Doctor Puss’ aka the Sexual Healing mob’, the latest project from the Of the Castle and Palmer Projects crew.
