An unidentified man has reportedly had both of his feet severed after falling onto tracks at Sydney’s Town Hall Station and becoming stuck under a train.
The incident is said to have occurred at around 12:10pm this afternoon, with emergency services responding to the scene.
Reports from the scene suggest the incident, which occurred on platform one, was a case of misadventure. Police confirmed the 60-year-old man suffered “significant” injuries to his feet. He is expected to lose both of them. Police officials assert the man, a Chinese national, fell onto the tracks right before a train arrived at the platform, which subsequently ran over his feet as he attempted to climb back out of the way.
Trains in and out of the station were halted while emergency services tended to the scene. Sydney Trains have since confirmed that the man was safely removed from the rail corridor and services have resumed, however delays are occurring as a result.
The person has been safely removed from the rail corridor and is being taken care of by emergency crew.
