Tourists Rescued After Dangling Overnight In Frigid French Alp Cable Cars

A lil’ earlier today, Kendall and Kylie Jenner found themselves trapped in a NYC lift for 20 minutes. Welp, the final 33 tourists who’ve just been rescued from faulty cable cars dangling in the French Alps would likely look at their Snapchat freakout with near-total disdain.

After spending a frigid night suspended above the Mont Blanc glacier, the remaining tourists – including a ten-year-old – were retrieved this arvo, after teams on-site managed to untangle the cables to get those big glass fearboxes running again.
It’s currently thought the 36 individual cable cars stopped in their tracks after hectic winds tangled the cables. Why they were still allowed to operate under such rubbish conditions is anyone’s guess.
Earlier, rescuers used helicopters to extricate some of the unlucky individuals trapped across the full 5 kilometre span, which connects Aiguille du Midi in France, and Pointe Helbronner, nestled on the Italian border.

That airborne operation was called off due to intense fog and the onset of darkness, which also eliminated the chance of those remaining tourists even savouring the view while they were left dangling at an elevation of 3.8km.

110 people in total were trapped when the cable cars first borked yesterday. Despite the freezing conditions, it’s not thought anyone has required medical attention after the ordeal.
Still, though… Nope. Nope nope NOPE.
