Seems Like All Of Us Are Spending Iso Perfecting Our Year 8 Damper Recipe, For Some Reason

I don’t even know what day of isolation we’re up to now, but it’s been long enough now that our online search habits have been clocked and collated by Google, producing a couple of very intriguing lists. One is all of the top recipes we’ve been looking up in earnest, and the other is everything related to the one thing potentially keeping us focused amongst all of this – precious coffee.

In the last month, that stupidly viral Dalgona coffee has topped both lists for trending recipes and coffee-related searches. That god damned whisked up foamy coffee nonsense. Too much effort put in for something that I need to be mainlined in an IV drip first thing in the morning if you ask me.

But you’re all so bloody keen on trying to make it at home – which we also did – so you’ve all been trying to find the right recipe that doesn’t result in covering the kitchen in splatted instant coffee foam.

Ok, let’s have a look at these lists shall we? I just want to have a little dig into them because some of these recipe searches, I just…I need to ask some questions.

Here are the top trending recipe searches of us Aussies in the last 30 days.

  1. Dalgona coffee recipe
  2. Damper recipe campfire
  3. Quince jam recipe
  4. Persimmon recipes
  5. Brownie recipe easy
  6. Gnocchi recipes
  7. Carrot cake recipes
  8. Cinnamon roll recipe
  9. Pandesal recipe
  10. Banana pancake recipe

Yep hmm okay, I can understand some of these. Lots of comfort food and easy sweet treats going on here. Gnocchi, brownies, carrot cake, banana pancakes. Of course we’re all looking up damper – we already been known that we’re taking the easy route when it comes to baking bread.

But quince jam? Persimmon recipes? You fancy little bitches. Who is out here making bloody quince jam for Christ’s sake? I both hate and love it at the same time. And I guess correct me if I’m wrong here but I think persimmons are in serious fruiting season at the moment, so I guess I can forgive you all looking up what the fuck to do with a glut of those incredibly soft fruits.

I’ll admit I had to look up what pandesal is, but it’s Filipino bread rolls, which look so yum and fluffy and perfect. They’re sweet little rolls that I think are typically eaten at breakfast, and sometimes they’re different colours (!!!) and now yes I absolutely want to try and make some.

As for the coffee-related searches, you’re all obviously missing the heck out of your local café, because you’re really trying to recreate that vibe at home. Or trying to find somewhere that’ll deliver you that hot bean drink to your door.

Here’s what we’re all searching about coffee.

  1. Dalgona coffee recipe
  2. French press coffee
  3. Pour over coffee
  4. Virtual coffee
  5. Vietnamese coffee
  6. Stove top coffee maker
  7. Coffee subscription
  8. Coffee delivery near me
  9. Best home coffee machine
  10. Drive thru coffee

All of these, pretty normal and standard. Except “virtual coffee”. The hell is that? Are you looking for an online café that you can sit in and pretend you’re at a real one with your shitty instant Moccona? What are you doing. Are you okay? Do you need to get outside and go for a walk?

If this is what our search histories look like after a month and a bit in isolation, I can’t imagine what it’s going to look like by the end of the year.

Just kidding, we all know it’ll be something like “Real-Time Cold Drip Coffee (12 Hours)” or some shit. Just some real slow-TV vibes of your morning brew being made in real-time. Why not.
