Took ‘Em Long Enough: Forever 21 Totally Ripped Off Kanye’s Pablo Merch

It’s honestly a testament to Kanye West that, not only are high street fashion stores ripping off his actual fashion line Yeezy, they’ll also rip off the designs from the rapper’s album merchandise.
This shirt went up on Forever 21‘s website yesterday, seemingly from a label called ‘SDC By Simon De Cyrene‘: www.forever21.com
Aaaaaaand this is what the first shirt looked like from Kanye’s ‘The Life of Pablo’ merch range, which he wore when presenting the album at the Yeezy S3 show/TLOP listening party in February.
While Kanye’s entire merch range uses different TLOP lyrics on the back of all the shirts (the red one above reads ‘We on an ultra light beam, this is a god dream’ from ‘Ultralight Beam‘), the Forever 21 shirt says ‘Simon De Cyrene for the World’.
We will acknowledge that Kanye himself did take many liberties from DeWitt and streetwear brand BornxRaised – but at least he compensated the OG artist for their design.
The SDC brand states that one of their main priorities is making ‘forward fashion accessible to the majority’, but it’s important to note in this instance that at US$32, their shirt is only a handful of dollars less than Kanye West‘s.
BUT THAT’S NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.
