Tony Abbott Ridicules Bill Shorten Over Labor’s Plan To Teach Coding In Schools

There are a stupid amount of jobs that exist today that need at least a basic understanding of coding. It may just be simple HTML, but still – some coding knowledge is nearly essential in our generation. Tomorrow, there will be even more jobs that require coding knowledge, and coding languages are created and evolve constantly.

Unfortunately Prime Minister Tony Abbott doesn’t seem to know that, because today, Labor leader Bill Shorten asked if the Prime Minister would join the Labor party in attempting to bring in teaching of coding to primary and middle schools. Tone’s response implied he thought the campaign was laughable, with him replying,
‘Does he want to send them all out to work at the age of 11? Seriously? Seriously?’
Shorten posted the video on his Facebook page about half an hour ago, stating that Abbott’s response “tells you everything you need to know about Tony Abbott’s plan for skilling future generations for the jobs of the future”.
Watch below:

In Question Time today, I asked Tony Abbott if he would commit to Labor’s plan for coding to be taught in every primary and secondary school in Australia. His answer tells you everything you need to know about Tony Abbott’s plan for skilling future generations for the jobs of the future. Only Labor has a plan for a modern, smart and fair Australia.
