Tom Petty’s Daughter Posts Furious Instagram Slamming False Death Reports

Tom Petty‘s daughter has slammed false reports of her father’s death.

The Instagram account @dadlivesmatteronelove, which is being attributed to Petty’s daughter Kimberly Violette (she also goes by Annakim Violette), posted an angry message calling out Rolling Stone magazine for early reports of Petty’s death.

She wrote:

“My dad is not dead yet but your fucking magazine is. Your (sic) slime, has-been pieces of tabloid dog shit. You put the worst artists on your covers, do zero research. How dare you report that my father has died just to get press because your articles and photos are so dated. I will fucking shit down your throat and your family’s. Try not being a Trump vibe. This is my father not a celebrity. An artist and human being. Fuck u.”

While her anger is understandable, Rolling Stone was hardly the only media organisation to report that Petty had died.

CBS News was the first network to report on his death, later deleting the tweet in question after the Los Angeles Police Department said its spokesperson provided no such information.

CBS News later issued a statement on the erroneous reporting, claiming that it had only “reported information obtained officially from the LAPD about Tom Petty”, and that “the LAPD later said it was not in a position to confirm information about the singer.”

Petty was found unconscious and in full cardiac arrest at his Malibu home this morning. “The singer is not expected to live much longer… but at this time, he’s still clinging to life,” TMZ reported.

In the meantime, tributes have been flooding in from fans and musicians alike, and Kimberly Violette herself has posted several tributes to her dad.
