A man’s racist attack on a train guard in Brisbane went viral overnight, after a friend filmed the incident and posted it on social media.
According to The Courier Mail, the altercation began when the 17-year-old man was asked by the guard to remove his feet from a seat. The man, who appeared to be intoxicated, refused, and instead began hurling racist abuse.
Over the course of the video, the man calls the guard a “n—-r” and a “black c–t” and fells him to “learn some fucking English, cuz this is Australia”. He continues berating the guard, and abusing other passengers, even as some attempt to step in.
The man was eventually dragged from the train by his friend, but when the video was subsequently uploaded to Facebook, it immediately sparked a backlash, with those disgusted by the man’s behavior.
On Saturday evening, a Facebook user by the name of Kader Boumzer made a post addressing the incident, saying “I was just drunk couldn’t remember shit so stop over reacting (sic), but I am proud to be white! OWS STAND STRONG!”
He later posted another status, saying: “I’m really sorry to everyone that was affected by the video I really cannot remember anything out of all honesty the post made before was someone else I know this is no excuse. But can you all see fromy (sic) my point of view that I was a Fucking idiot and I’m really sorry.”
Queensland police were approached for comment, but say they have not yet received any formal complaint about the incident.
This outburst is the latest in a series of ugly racist incidents on public transport. Australia, can we just chill with this stuff for, like, five fucking seconds?
