AWWWWWWWWW SHIIIIIIIIIT, FOLKS. IT’S MOTHERFUCKING HYPE TIME.
After the late Paul Walker drove off into the sunset at the conclusion of ‘Furious 7‘ (the ending of which this particular writer re-watched in prep for this article and is now, as a result, crying forever again) attentions have been keenly awaiting the release of part eight of the ‘Fast & the Furious‘ franchise, which went into production practically the day ‘Furious 7′ hit theatres in April of 2015.
Last week we got ourselves an official title for the film in ‘The Fate of the Furious‘ (get it! F8!) and today it is time to start holding on to all of your butts, because the first official trailer has finally arrived, and it is set to blow them all clean off.
Largely set in New York City this time around, the trailer teases the ultimate betrayal: Vin Diesel‘s Dom going against his family (WHAT) to side with the villainous cyber-terrorist Charlize Theron.
There’s cars. There’s crashes. There’s explosions. THERE’S A GODDAMNED CHASE SCENE ON A GLACIER WHERE A FREAKIN’ SUBMARINE SHOWS UP.
Sit down and hold onto something, until the shaking stops.
The cast is full of old and new favourites including Diesel, Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Kurt Russell, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Scott Eastwood, somehow Dame Helen Mirren is in there too. Ridiculous.
‘Straight Outta Compton‘ director F. Gary Gray steps in for the departing James Wan this time around.
It’s scheduled to hit cinemas from April 14th next year.
