Time Running Out To Save Baby Marmoset Stolen From Sydney Zoo

The owners of a Sydney wildlife park are pleading for the safe return of three pygmy marmosets stolen yesterday, saying that a newborn baby will likely die today if not reunited with its mother.

The four-week old baby was stolen from its breastfeeding mother, along with its father and another young female, in a robbery at Symbio Wildlife Park on Saturday.
Police say that the baby, which is dependent on its mother for food, will likely die it not found today; the baby marmoset’s twin may also die, as zookeepers say that the mother is currently too “stressed” to feed it.
Park operators discovered the break-in at 8am yesterday, and have urged anyone with any information to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
Staff believe the robbery was planned, as nothing else was stolen or vandalised. A representative told The Daily Mail:

“The park has sufficient security throughout the boundaries and the exhibit, but they clearly managed to break their way through the initial door … The mother is clearly stressed because half of her family is not with her and this has shaken up all of the staff.”
