As we briefly mentioned last month, Banksy, the world’s most infamous street artist and paint-wielding political activist is rumoured to appear at next month’s Sydney Film Festival for the Australian premiere of his debut feature film, Exit Through The Gift Shop.
At this stage his presence is far from confirmed but in news that supports such claims, our good friends at Time Out Sydney have announced that their forthcoming June edition will feature an exclusive Banksy-conceived cover as well as a rare interview with the media adverse icon.
“We’re pretty stoked, and if we’re totally honest, a little surprised too” said Time Out Sydney Editor Dan Rookwood “It was an audacious effort because Banksy, being anonymous, just doesn’t do interviews generally and has never done a cover for any magazine except Time Out London and Time Out New York as far as we’re aware – so this is a real coup for us.“
As you can see below, Time Out Sydney’s sister publications in New York and London have nabbed custom Banksy covers in the past. The Sydney issue hits newsstands Wednesday 26 May.
