This Mum Accidentally Proved She Has No Idea What Her Own Dog Looks Like

Okay, so, face-blindness is definitely a thing. Famous neurologist Oliver Sacks wrote a whole book about it (it’s called The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat, and it’s very good). Prosopagnosia, as it’s officially known, affects a bunch of people to greater or lesser degrees; it’s a real and acknowledged brain issue.
But now, thanks to Twitter, we may be witnessing the first case of a new, hitherto-unstudied branch of this particular neurological quirk: dog-blindness.
A bloke called Jeff Squires posted this intriguing exchange with his mother on Twitter yesterday, during which she asked him if their dog was home, as a dog who looked just like him had been picked up by animal control.

Just so we’re all on the same page – this is the dog Jeff’s mum thought might be Duey, the family pooch:
pictured: a large, white, fluffy dog, possibly a Maremma sheepdog.
And this is Duey:
pictured: a small, tan-and white Jack Russell terrier.
Those… they’re… it’s…
Hmm.
Obviously, the good folk of Twitter are not letting this dog discrepancy slide by unnoticed.
