August 19 was just a regular Saturday like any other. People around the world coming together to terrorise bar staff celebrate their weekends with drinks and social activities and whatever it is regular people do – except for German Twitter user @N1m161, who managed to use the international day of rest/PARTY to spawn the internet’s new favourite meme.
He managed to turn a very awkward Shuttershock stock photo called ‘Disloyal man walking with his girlfriend and looking amazed at another seductive girl’ into a searing hot take on the appeal of socialism to young people. Think Bernie Sanders, Jeremy Corbyn… Topical, huh?

And so a meme was born from one lusty dude in a stock photo staring at a girl who looks almost identical to his girlfriend, as other Twitter users brainstormed other unlikely objects of the man’s desire. Oh and piled memes on top of other memes because this is the internet, and on the internet everything references everything else until we are all swallowed whole and begin to lose all sense of ourselves or the possibility of a meaningful universe.
