There’s US$1,000,000 Going To The First Person Who Jailbreaks Apple’s iOS 9

If you find yourself in possession of both highly sophisticated software jailbreaking skills + a hankering for USD $1,000,000, then listen up: we’ve found the mother of all challenges.

US-based cybersecurity firm Zerodium is offering a reward of $1M to the first person who can successfully jailbreak Apple‘s new iOS 9 (or $3M for a team) in the Million Dollar iOS Bug Bounty challenge.

Here’s the spiel on the deal:

“Apple iOS, like all operating systems, is often affected by critical security vulnerabilities, however due to the increasing number of security improvements and the effectiveness of exploit mitigations in place, Apple’s iOS is currently the most secure mobile OS. But don’t be fooled, secure does not mean unbreakable, it just means that iOS has currently the highest cost and complexity of vulnerability exploitation and here’s where the Million Dollar iOS Bug Bounty comes into play.”

“Zerodium will pay out one million U.S. dollars ($1,000,000.00) to each individual or team who creates and submits to Zerodium an exclusive, browser-based, and untethered jailbreak for the latest Apple iOS 9 operating system and devices.”

It requires you to submit your shit to Zerodium, after which you can celebrate by buying the ~fancy~ goon sack and / or the bottle-o. TBH, if the security system’s anything like iOS’s functionality, it should be a piece of cake.

Take a crack HERE, our superior-coding friends. You have until October 31st, 2015, 6pm EST.

Yeah… nah… we’re definitely not in this race.
