There’s Possibly, Probably, Potentially A ‘Full House’ Revival In The Works

The show that raised a generation of children to be shocked when, as adults, they all discovered how magnificently vulgar Bob Saget‘s stand up is could finally be getting the revival that no one but the cast has been asking for ever since it went off the air. There is now what seems to be serious talks underway to bring Full House back to TV, with a lot of its original cast in tow as well.

Re-runs of the show remain extremely well rated on cable channels in the US, so this revival talk isn’t exactly completely out of the blue. And, given the industry’s blind faith in lightning striking twice in multiple places, it’s not even really that surprising.
What is surprising is the fact that talks are revolving around a straight-up revival, rather than a reboot or appropriation in the same way that other beloved 90s properties like Boy Meets World (which got the reboot Girl Meets World) and Saved By The Bell (which is getting a horrendously weird-looking “unauthorised biography” movie? Yeah, look. It’s… it’s as bizarre as it sounds) have gotten, if Full House is to come back, the original cast looks mostly like being on board as well.
According to TV Guide – “Leading the charge is John Stamos (Uncle Jesse) — who has an ownership stake in the show, which gives him good reason to champion the new series. Original executive producer Bob Boyett and creator Jeff Franklin (who’s writing the new version) are actively involved. Candace Cameron Bure (D.J.), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy) are on board, while Bob Saget (Danny) and Dave Coulier (Joey) are also involved in some way.
It remains extraordinarily unlikely that the Olsen Twins will be involved in any new or revived version of the show; the sisters have been effectively retired from acting for a decade now, despite currently both being only 28 years old. If that doesn’t make you feel old and unaccomplished, nothing will.
