There’s Going To Be An Honest-To-God Ghost Ship In Sydney Harbour Tonight

Sydney, we don’t mean to alarm you, but there’s going to be an honest-to-god pirate ghost ship in the harbour tonight. We’re talking the whole lot: a spooky, transparent hull; spraying sea-water; and a giant skull-and-crossbones staring down at you.

The whole thing is part of Disney‘s promotion for the upcoming ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales‘, and as anyone who rode on Disneyland‘s ‘Haunted House‘ ride in the 90s can attest to, Disney is the reigning king of pretend-ghost apparitions.

What this ship ain’t, however, is the Black Pearl. It’s a replica of the Silent Mary ghost ship, which is apparently the go-to vessel for one Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), an honest sailor who was cursed after a run-in with Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and is now hell-bent on doing lots and lots of pirate murders.

It’s going to be up and sailing through Sydney Harbour this Thursday, Saturday and Sunday nights as something of an appetiser for Vivid. Get amongst it.
