There’s A Company That Embalms The Tattoos Of Deceased Loved Ones

Tattoos: they’re a huge part of so many people’s lives. Whether you just have the one for a special reason, or if you’re covered in ink because you can do whatever you want with your body (so you decided to turn it into a piece of art), tattoos can help us showcase our life and personality.

But what happens when we reach the end? All the love and passion (not to mention the money) we poured into our tatt obsession leaves when we peace outta here, which sucks.
Thankfully, US-based company ‘Save My Ink’ exists. It’s such a simple idea; it’s honestly a miracle no one had thought of it before. They care about tatts just as much as you do (probably more), and they provide a unique and service which allows your loved ones to keep your embalmed, tatted skin after you’re gone.
Yes, we are well aware that it sounds quite gross. But look how lovely they can look, the art on your body becomes art in a frame:

“Erik (Hunter’s father) sadly left Hunter behind at an early age, [but] Hunter will always be reminded of how much he meant to his father with this tattoo.”

(YES, those are images of the framed, embalmed skin of deceased people.)
According to the Save My Ink website, one can sign up to the NAPSA (National Association for the Preservation of Skin Art), and assign a family member or friend a ‘Beneficiary’s Certificate’. After your passing, they can contact NAPSA, and organise the preservation of your tatts (the gross bit is done by the funeral home that you’re chillin’ at). It gets embalmed and rejuvenated back to how it originally looked by NAPSA, then a few months later, your loved one receives the permanent artwork to remind them of you and how fuckin’ excellent you were.
Literally one of the coolest/grossest things we’ve seen in a while. C’mon, ‘Straya – more #tattyembalming!
