The US Is Copping An Unreal Blizzard & NASA Has The Pics To Prove It

Yesterday, we brought your attention to Mother Nature’s impending fuckery, and her decision to utterly annihilate whatever sunny Australia Day plans you may have had. She’s not exactly the patriotic type, that one.

While you reassess your barbie situation, spare a minute to think of our Seppo brethren, who are struggling with the weather at the moment too.

North America is currently copping a seriously brutal blizzard, and some areas are tipped to receive two feet (over half a metre, for us metric folk) of snow in the next 24 hours. New York City, Philadelphia, Washington D.C and the broader Mid-Atlantic region are slogging through the worst of it, with several deaths already linked to the snowstorm.

D.C’s mayor even went as far to say they hadn’t experienced a weather system like this in nearly a century

It’s not only the nation’s east that can expect to face those conditions. Satellite images released by NASA capture just how massive the weather system is, with tendrils of heavy cloud causing flooding in the South and Gulf Coast areas, too.

Another absolutely stunning shot shows the country almost blanketed in white. Of course, the giant, striking tranquility of the image stands in direct contrast to the mental conditions on the ground.

The blizzard is expected to last at least another day, with residents in affected areas totalling over 50 million. Those communities have also been instructed to prepare for power outages as the storm worsens.

By comparison, that makes a bit of rain over Australia Day a bit easier to manage.
