The Senate Has Officially Repealed The Carbon Tax

BREAKING NEWS

The Senate has, at long last, passed the legislation that will see the Carbon Tax officially repealed, fulfilling one of Tony Abbott‘s core election platforms.
This was the fourth attempt at sending the repeal through the senate, and follows the enormous political brewhaha surrounding Clive Palmer and the Palmer United Party‘s inherent desire to ensure the pot was well and truly stirred before wilfully jumping in.
The repeal bill was once again introduced to the Senate on Tuesday, but a vote was delayed until today due to yesterday’s sitting being taken up by parliamentary resistance from the Labor and Green opposition, who took up the better part of the entire session by debating a single point of the amendment, utilising borderline filibuster-style tactics to chew up time and delay the vote by a day.
The Abbott Government, this time around, secured the crossbench support needed to successfully pass the bill. Mild, reserved applause from the Government side of the chamber sounded as the bill was officially declared to be passed by the house.
Greens leader Christine Milne stated that the move was “A monumental blunder for the nation by a climate denying Prime Minister.
There will be many people around Australia who will be as distraught as we are who simply accept the science.
I think the community will see that they are being short-changed.
