The Planets Are Aligning Over AUS Before Dawn & It’ll Be Bloody Beaut

This one’s for every time someone’s pulled their smuggest face and told you no, ’cause “the planets aren’t aligned in your favour.”

Tell ’em to tilt their pencil-necks to the sky, ’cause the planets are truly-duly aligning this time, and there ain’t shit they can do about it.

Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn and the big ‘un Jupiter – aka, the ones you can spot without a telescope – are in the process of lining up, and Australia has the privilege of catching it as it happens. From a little while before sunrise tomorrow, you’ll be able to catch ’em all as they fall into formation.
In particular, keep your peepers out for Mercury, low over the horizon in the east. From there, follow the rest of the bright planets as they extend up and to the north. Uranus and Neptune aren’t invited to this party, though. Sorry guys.

More than a decade has passed since we were last given this nifty cosmic gift, and the next time it’ll come around is 2018. Luckily, the formation will last until late next month, so you’ve got plenty of time to find the perfect planet-watching spot.
